purge — a Mac storage cleaner for developers: free up disk space from the terminal

Your Mac is full of junk that regrows itself. Purge it.

One scan finds every gigabyte of regenerable build output, cache and log. It deletes only what you leave checked.

Install once, with Homebrew or npm. Then run purge from anywhere — it scans your whole home directory and opens the review screen below. Homebrew brings its own Node and puts purge ahead of macOS’s built-in disk-buffer tool of the same name; with npm, if you see “Operation not permitted”, run purge-cli instead. Or skip the install: npx purge-cli@latest always runs the newest version. purge makes no network calls, so it never checks for updates itself — update with brew upgrade purge or npm i -g purge-cli@latest. Nervous? purge --trash moves everything to the Trash instead, and purge undo puts it back.
